1. |
Introduction |
This chapter briefly introduces gvSIG and its project background. |
2. |
gvSIG Projects |
gvSIG-projects are made up of different document types. There are three types of documents in gvSIG: views, tables and maps. |
3. |
Documents |
The gvSIG user interface consists of different working areas to manage vector and raster data of your gvSIG projects. The "View"-Window contains the "Table of Contents (ToC)", the "Locator" and the "Display Window". |
4. |
Viewing and accessing Data |
Different types of cartographic information can be added to a gvSIG-project. A wide range of vector and raster file formats can be loaded. |
5. |
Editing Tools |
There are two types of editing tools: the graphical and alphanumerical editing of layers or features. |
6. |
Analysis and processing Data |
The gvSIG "Geoprocessing Tools" offer a series of standard processes for vector layers, e.g. creating new vector information layers based on the spatial relationship of the source layers. For raster data the layer functionalities and geographic transformation tools are explained. |
7. |
Maps |
This chapter illustrates how to set up the map (page size and measuring units) as well as inserting the map elements (legend, scale bar, northing, texts) and map exporting options. |
8. |
Preference Window |
The preference window allows customising gvSIG to your own needs. You can change the programme settings for language, the default projection or the selection colour. |
9. |
Sextante |
This chapter describes the basic elements of the "SEXTANTE-Toolbar" and how to use the "SEXTANTE-Toolbox" and its 286 algorithms. Particular information about SEXTANTE algorithms is not given. If needed, use the context help (information button in the bottom line of the "SEXTANTE-Toolbox"). |
10. |
Scripting Extension |
This extension allows creating your own scripts in different programming languages, such as Jython, javascript, beanShell or groovy. |
