Jan-Philipp Grett specializes in GIS and remote sensing related projects including developing customized GIS-tools and applications as well as hydrologic modeling tools. He has held several courses training staff in GIS technologies and remote sensing data manipulation. Jan-Philipp has profound knowledge in ArcGIS, gvSIG, geospatial raster data processing software ERDAS Imagine and ENVI as well as several hydrologic modeling software tools.

As part of his activities with the Caribbean Renewable Energy Development Programme (CREDP-GIZ) as a regional and international short term expert, he developed the software tool hydroMinds for hydrologic modeling, especially designed for the use in the Caribbean Region. He was engaged in several other projects in the Caribbean including staff-training of the World Health Organization for a project in Cartagena, Colombia and the Government of Saint Lucia in using mass-statistical data software and GIS technologies.

As of his engagement, he was elected as fellow to the Royal Geographic Society and the Institute of British Geographers. On several long-term visits he stayed in New Zealand, Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Jan-Philipp Grett, born in 1983, founded geoMinds in 2010. He completed his Master’s Degree with distinction in Applied Human Geography from the Julius Maximilians University of Wuerzburg, Germany, having also worked as a research assistant for the Department of Remote Sensing in cooperation with the German Aerospace Center (DLR) at the same university.
